Special Operations Report

The special operations team at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office includes the K-9 enforcement team and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team. The ACE Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

From Jan. 28-Feb. 3, special operations deputies set up checkpoints on Benton Road, Mount Misery Road, Leland School Road, Grey Bridge Road, Shell Point Road, Pireway Road, McLamb Road, Bridgers Road, N.C. 904, Red Bug Road, Maco Road, Blue Banks Road, N.C. 133.

They also made a stop for the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics Unit and assisted them with a search warrant.

Deputies also patrolled the Ash area.

The following suspects were charged:

Marvin Mintz, 37, Leland; possession of half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brian Mintz, 39, Leland; possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Bradley Smith, of Southport; possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.

Daniel Earwood, 44, Bolivia; possession of half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mark Couture, 46, Longs, S.C.; possession of half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Makenit Healy, 26, Wilmington; possession of half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rashee Mason, 20, Whiteville, possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacturing marijuana.

Dashad Maultsby, 21, Chadbourn; possession of half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Justin Benton, 21, Ocean Isle Beach; possession of half-ounce or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
