Local tennis players lose in regional
West Brunswick and South Brunswick tennis players did not advance from the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3A Regional at Barton College in Wilson.
In singles, West freshman Penny Watts lost 6-3, 6-3 to Northern Nash’s Emily Moedl. South junior Summer Phillips, seeded No. 2, won her first-round match, beating West Carteret’s Hali Vradelis 6-2, 6-1. In a quarterfinal, unseeded Aly Jones of Wilson Hunt beat Phillips 6-1, 6-0.
