Stingray tryouts are Nov. 27
Tryouts for the Lady Stingrays 14U softball team will take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at Northwest District Park in Leland. Girls with birth dates on or after Jan. 1, 1997, are eligible to participate. Dixie youth meeting Nov. 28
Shallotte Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball will have its annual fall meeting to discuss all old business from the 2011 season. Officers for the coming season will be elected. Coaches, parents and interested parties are encouraged to attend. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 at Shallotte First Baptist Church, 4486 Main St., Shallotte.

Cheer and dance Dec. 18 at BCC
The Spirit Classic Cheer and Dance Competition will take place 1-5 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Dinah E. Gore Fitness & Aquatics Center. The following counties have been invited to participate: Brunswick, Robeson, Bladen, Pender, Columbus, New Hanover, Horry, S.C. There will be a middle school division along with high school junior varsity and varsity. Trophies will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners and they will be invited to perform at halftime for a Brunswick Community College home basketball game. Elementary school dance teams will be invited to perform at the competition. Participant fee is $20; spectator fee, $5. Tennis lessons
Youth tennis lessons are set for Mondays Dec. 5-Jan. 9 at Ocean Isle Beach Park Tennis Center. Ages 4-6 meet at 3:45-4:45 p.m.; ages 7-9 meet at 5-6 p.m.; ages 10-16 meet at 6-7 p.m. Fee is $65. Adult tennis lessons meet Wednesdays at Ocean Isle Beach Park Dec. 7-Jan. 11. Beginners meet at 5:30-6:30 p.m. Intermediate level meets at 6:45-7:45 p.m. Fee is $65. ATMC-TV airs Oyster Bowls
ATMC-TV is airing the 2011 Brunswick County Parks & Recreation Youth Football League Oyster Bowls, which took place Nov. 5 at North Brunswick High School.
In the Junior Oyster Bowl, the Lockwood Folly Little Chiefs beat the Shallotte Little Buccaneers 32-7. In the Oyster Bowl, the Shallotte Buccaneers beat the Leland Panthers 25-0. Tune in to ATMC-TV Channel 3 on Saturday and Sunday nights. The junior varsity game will begin at 8 p.m. followed by the varsity game.
