Elks Hoop Shoot has begun

About 3,000 pupils in elementary and middle schools in Shallotte and Calabash are competing this month in the first stage of the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest.

The Hoop Shoot has divisions for boys and girls ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Contestants will shoot the for the best-of-25 free throws.

The finals will take place at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 11 at Shallotte Middle School.
