Free throw contest set for Dec. 8
The local competition for the 41st annual Elks national Hoop Shoot free throw contest for girls and boys ages 8-13, sponsored by the Elks National Foundation, is 9 a.m. Dec. 8 at Shallotte Middle School. Contest winners advance to district competition, and winners advance through state and regional competition before reaching the national finals. Cedric Simmons update
Cedric Simmons started and scored seven points in Enel Brindisi’s 81-71 loss Nov. 25 in an Italian professional basketball league game. Simmons played 21 minutes and blocked two shots and made two steals and grabbed two rebounds. Enel Brindisi is 4-5 and tied for ninth in the 16-team league.
