Free throw competition Jan. 28
The Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Rosary Council 9039 annual free throw competition is 9 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Shallotte Middle School gym. This event is free and open to anyone ages 10-14. Waccamaw Dixie sign-ups Jan. 28
The Waccamaw Athletic Association will be having registration for Dixie Youth tee-ball, softball and baseball from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 28 and Feb. 4 at Waccamaw District Park. Registration also will take place from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 24 and Jan. 31 at the Waccamaw School media center. Registration fees are $25 for tee-ball and $35 for baseball and softball. Anyone ages 4-12 is eligible to register. Bring a copy of each registrant’s birth certificate. For more information, call Kevin Smith at 287-5619.

Brunswick County Dixie registrations
Registration is open for the 2012 Dixie Boys Baseball (ages 13-15) and the 2012 Dixie Belles (ages 13-15) and Debs Softball  (ages 16-19) programs. Registration deadline for Dixie Belles and Debs is Feb. 24 and the deadline for Dixie Boys is March 2. Registration fee is $50 for both programs. For more information, call (910) 253-2670. Tennis lessons begin in March
Tennis lessons begin in March and at three locations (Ocean Isle Beach Park, Smithville Park, and Lockwood Folly Park). Classes are in the evenings from 3:45-7 p.m. depending on your skill level. Lessons are $65 per person and pre-registration is required.  Call Ruthie McHugh at (910) 253-2583 to register or for more information.

Youth swim lessons in March
Youth swim lessons for those ages 4-9 will take place Mondays through Thursdays at the Winds Beach Club, Ocean Isle Beach. The first session begins March 19 and ends March 29. The second session begins April 16 and ends April 26. Fee: $65 Call (910) 253-2583 to register or for more information.

Lucky Leprechaun 5K Run March 10
The Lucky Leprechaun 5K Run March begins at 9 a.m. March 10 at the Winds Beach Resort at Ocean Isle Beach. This will be a celebratory, holiday event. Race participants are encouraged to dress in St. Patrick’s Day apparel.
The 5K course will take participants on a scenic tour of the eastern part of the island. The race will begin and end in front of The Winds Beach Resort (310 E. 1st St.). Adults can sign up before Feb 23 for $25 and kids 12 and younger can sign up for $15. After Feb. 23, registration is $30 and $20, respectively. T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who register by Feb. 23.
Proceeds from the race will provide scholarships to low-income youth and adults for participation in Brunswick County Parks and Recreation programs. To register visit: www.Its-Go-Time.com Registration deadline is March 5.
