BFA FUNDRAISER SEPT. 10
Brunswick Family Assistance, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in crisis by providing emergency assistance and services, will host its 13th annual fundraising run on Sept. 10 at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Conference Center in Sunset Beach.
BFA has made a few changes to the run. The event will consist of a 10K (6.2 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles) run, a 10K walk and a 1-mile fun run rather than a 5-mile run. This change will provide a distance for almost any runner. In addition, the services of 5 Star Race Productions have been secured to manage and direct the run. The BFA 10K/5K will be the first leg of a three-race series that is being coordinated by 5 Star Race Productions. The second race will be a 15K run Oct. 16 at Brunswick Forest and the final leg of the race series is the Battleship Half Marathon Nov. 6 in Wilmington. Runners who complete all three series races will receive a prize package.
All participants in the BFA Run will receive a tech T-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to the top three female and male finishers in the 10K and 5K runs and the first- and second- place female- and male-age group finishers will also receive awards. Post-race refreshments will be provided and there will drawings for prizes donated by race sponsors.
The entry fee for the 10K and 5K runs and the 10K walk is $25 until Aug. 12th. The fee increases to $30 after that date. The fee for the 1-mile Fun Run is $15. Participants can register online for the run at www.5starraceproductions.com. Registration forms are also available at 5 Star Race Productions (910) 398-5539 or at the BFA office at 4600-8 Main St. in Shallotte. The phone number is (910) 754-4766.

Businesses and organizations that want to help sponsor the BFA 10K/5K by contributing for a sponsorship and on the race shirt can call Ken Papaj at (910) 842-2959. Sponsorship opportunities are $500, $350, $250 or $100 based on the location of the ad/logo on the race shirt. All proceeds of the run benefit BFA and will enable it to continue to provide services and assistance to Brunswick County residents.
