St. Paul’s commemorates one-year anniversary

-A A +A

This has been quite a busy a year for the small congregation at St. Paul’s by the Sea Anglican Church.
Presiding Bishop Scott McLaughlin, Primate of the Orthodox Anglican Communion and Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church, came for a visit April 16 and two children, Clara and Anna Tyson, daughters of Deacon Mac Tyson and Beth Tyson, were confirmed.
On June 25, the Rev. Donnie Hayes was ordained into the priesthood at St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Anglican Church in Richmond, Va. The Most Rev. Dr. Scott McLaughlin presided at the ordination. Hayes is now acting curate for St. Paul’s by the Sea.
The Feast of St. Francis was celebrated in October when parish members sponsored a pet blessing. In addition, everyone met at Myrtle Beach State Park for a joint service of Holy Communion at the beach with its sister church, Good Shepherd of Myrtle Beach, S.C. A covered dish picnic followed the service. It is hoped these events will continue as yearly traditions for both congregations.
Canon Creighton Jones is Priest in Charge and Mac Tyson and Lou Townsend currently serve the parish as deacons.
St. Paul’s is seeking more parish members. All are welcome to attend its weekly service, as well as the covered dish anniversary celebration.
