A statewide burn ban and a county burn ban have been re-instated, banning all open burning in Brunswick County.
The statewide burn ban, issued by the N.C. Division of Forest Resources, prohibits all open burning more than 100 feet from an occupied dwelling.
The county ban also prohibits open burning within the 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner said there has been some confusion about the burn bans, because of the recent rains.
