A Brunswick County resident has died from the flu.
Fred Michael, Brunswick County Health Service public information officer, said a Brunswick County resident, a male in his 60s, died several weeks ago as a result of the flu.
He said the man hadn’t had a flu shot.
The death is among 17 flu-related deaths reported in North Carolina since Oct. 6, 2012.
According to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services 13 of the deaths were in patients 65 and older; two in people ages 50-64; and two in people ages 25-49.
