Southport Elementary fifth-grade teacher Mrs. Blacklock was one of two teachers who requested assistance and gave local 4-H youth a chance to practice their leadership skills.
On Wednesday, Oct. 26, Angie Lawrence, 4-H program assistant, and her helpers Alexis Apple, Angelique Apple, Owen Bell and Bobbi Jane Lawrence taught students about renewable energy and more. The youth who participated in the program enhanced their engineering skills by designing, building and testing two different wind turbine models.
