Sunset Beach gets ready to budget for upcoming fiscal year

SUNSET BEACH—Read town administrator Gary Parker’s lips: no new tax increase is being projected for the town’s upcoming 2008-2009 fiscal year budget.

The tax rate for the town’s proposed $5,785,436 fiscal 2008-2009 budget, in fact, is 9.5 cents per $100 of valuation, compared to the current 11.5 cents.

That amount is expected to cover all of the town’s projected operating and maintenance expenses and capital expenditures while returning $200,000 to its fund balance.
