Sunset Slush of Atlantic Beach will now serve the Crystal Coast region, including Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, Swansboro and other areas of Carteret and Onslow Counties.
Stephen Saia and Catherine Saia, founders of Sunset Slush of Ocean Isle Beach of North Carolina, are excited about this area since they participated in a chamber of commerce expo in May and the product was well received by all attendees, they said.
Their first event for the pushcart vending operation owned by Scott Wagoner and Ashleigh Phillips was the home opener of the Morehead Marlins baseball team at Big Rock Stadium in Rotary Park. They will be at home games throughout the season.
During the summer, they will be at the Morehead City waterfront and will also be available for other special events.
Wagoner and Phillips are graduates of East Carolina University. Wagoner focused on growing the Italian ice business in the Carteret and Onslow County areas much like the Saias have grown the business in Brunswick County. His father is Mike Wagoner, president of the Carteret Chamber of Commerce.
Phillips is a secondary education marketing teacher. Both are looking forward to this new venture and excited to start serving Sunset Slush–Classic Italian Ice to residents and tourists of the Crystal Coast.
Sunset Slush–Classic Italian Ice was established January 2003 and currently has 11 independent operators serving the Carolinas with retail locations at Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte, Holden Beach and Raleigh. The Shallotte, Raleigh and Holden Beach stores are independently owned and operated.
