A Supply man facing a murder charge was indicted Thursday, July 4, by a Brunswick County grand jury.

William Calvin Steward, 36, was arrested April 11 and accused of shooting and killing a woman at a party at his home.

He was indicted on charges of murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury and discharging a weapon into a dwelling or moving vehicle.

Members of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit arrested Steward after they said he fired a rifle into an occupied vehicle April 11.

Iqueisha Tequila Monique Collins later died as a result of the shooting, which happened about 11 p.m. at Steward’s 750 Eastfield Lane residence during a party, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Investigators said Steward also shot Deontray Bryant, who suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, during the party, arrest warrants show. Bryant was treated at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center and later released.

Steward is incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility without bail. His trial date has not been set.
