Supply man sentenced for assaulting mother

A Supply man has been sentenced to at least three years in prison for assaulting his mother, according to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office.

Michael Bazen Jr., 28, pleaded to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury and assault by strangulation.

Superior Court Senior Resident Judge Ola Lewis sentenced him Oct. 9 to serve 36 to 56 months in the N.C. Department of Corrections, the maximum sentence for his charges.

Upon his release, Bazen will be on two years of supervised probation and must participate in the Brunswick County Domestic Violence batterer’s treatment court.

Bazen was released from prison July 24, 2012, after serving 15 months for assault inflicting serious bodily injury on his father.
