A shark at Holden Beach bit a 63-year old woman Thursday afternoon.
Barbara Corey of Supply was bitten in 3-4 feet of water near the 200 block of Ocean Boulevard East, Holden Beach Police Detective Jeremy Dixon said in a statement.
Brunswick County Emergency Management Services Director Anthony Marzano said the woman was bitten on the lower leg, but kicked at the shark until she got away.
According to Dixon, Corey felt something bite her right foot in the water, then the animal began thrashing around in the water.
