A Taste of Brunswick Plantation offers delicious delights from new recipe book

It was a night for mingling and sampling the wares as A Taste of Brunswick Plantation took place Sunday night.

For the cost of an admission ticket to benefit the new Brunswick Hospice Care Center, residents turned out en masse to enjoy food samples from the community’s new recipe book bearing the same title as the event.

The tickets entitled each attendee to food tickets that could be used to sample assorted dishes showcased in the recipe collection, “A Taste of Brunswick Plantation.”

Set up in a banquet hall inside The Brunswick House at Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort, food samplings literally ran the gamut, from baked potato soup to nuts—gala pecan spread, that is—served on little crackers—and an array of desserts.

Event organizer Mary Helen Naecker said every year the Brunswick Plantation Ladies’ Golf Association sponsors a charitable fundraiser.

“We decided this year to go local and do hospice,” she said, to help with its new facility.

A celebrity table featured samples of recipes contributed by famous people, including Rosalynn Carter’s “Plains special” cheese ring, Barbara Bush’s zucchini soup and iced chocolate angel food cake, Barbara Mandrell’s mandarin orange cake, Arnold Palmer’s salsa and Betty White’s beef noodle bake. Each celebrity recipe was prepared by local chefs involved with the local event and ladies’ golf association.

All proceeds will go to benefit hospice.
