TFTBC Board of Directors
On June 2, The First Tee of Brunswick County will host its second annual Future Generations Tournament (FGT) at St. James Plantation. Its success and your participation will help shape the future of the thousands of young people that participate in The First Tee of Brunswick County (TTBC) annually.
Last year 512 golfers signed up for this golf tournament along with a host of sponsors. In short order, it became the biggest benefit tourney in all of coastal Carolina. It was a fun day of golf, fellowship and sharing in the satisfaction that just by being there the players and donors would make a big difference in the lives of Brunswick county youth.
For the remainder of 2011 and into 2012, their FGT participation and generosity helped to shape and underwrite all of our major youth development programs.
For TFTBC, those future generations come in all shapes and sizes. They are the youngsters who receive TFTBC life and golf skills instruction in their elementary school PE classes. They are the fourth- and fifth-grade youth who are bused to our Cinghiale Creek campus five 90-minute sessions in the fall and four 90-minute sessions in the spring for TFTBC character development and golf instruction. They are the after-school participants, ages 7 through 17, who learn skills like meeting and greeting, planning for dreams and goals, STAR—Stop, Think Anticipate and Respond—through the game of golf that can be used in every aspect of their lives.
All across the curriculum, every student learns to play and live by The First Tee Nine Core Values of courtesy, confidence, respect, responsibility, judgment, perseverance, honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.
Those of us who volunteer for TFTBC—and there are hundreds of us—dedicate thousands of hours to helping shape the lives of our students and molding them into the good citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
It’s our legacy and it can be yours by joining us at the Future Generations Tournament on June 2 at St. James Plantation.
