To the editor:
Thanks to the thoughtfulness of a local Good Samaritan who, upon discovering flames damaging our property, took time to call the fire department, saving our Ocean Isle Beach property from total incineration.
While locals know about the many acts of kindness by the people of Brunswick County who are fortunate enough to call “the beach” home, your weekend friends want you to know that your kindness doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated.
Our family will always be grateful for the kindness of the Good Samaritan who saved our little piece of paradise last week.
Considering we live more than 100 miles inland, we were clueless someone’s rogue New Year’s fireworks had set off a blaze in the pine straw around our house, melting the siding and scorching the framing timbers, until the Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department notified us of the damage on New Year’s Eve.
We are deeply grateful to the fire department and the wonderful unknown Good Samaritan(s) who saved our home from total destruction.
