Thirst thrill: Jumpin' Java's Shallatte celebrates Shallotte

Residents in search of a native caffeinated brew need look no further than the Shallatte, a frothy blend served at Jumpin’ Java Espresso Co. at 4635 Main St. in Shallotte.

The concoction celebrating Jumpin’ Java’s hometown is flavored with caramel, vanilla and toasted marshmallow. It’s available hot, poured over ice or blended for a delicious, beat-the-July-heat chill.

The whipped cream is optional.

Jumpin’ Java owners Sonny and Sarah Moy were inspired to name the local latte, which was the favorite mixture of a former employee.

After the employee left, “people still wanted it, so we named it ‘Shallatte,’” Sonny Moy says.

The drink is available in small, medium and large servings, as are all the coffees and teas sold at Jumpin’ Java.

Order inside or at the drive-thru.

Hours are 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Fridays, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays.
