OCEAN ISLE BEACH—With a unanimous vote, the town board of commissioners and mayor agreed to take an opposing stance to a proposed homeowners’ insurance rate increase.
“We just got notice that there is a proposed 30 percent increase on the coast and a 17 percent increase inland in homeowner’s insurance rates,” commissioner Dean Walters said at a recent meeting. “Every year we have a 7 to 9 percent increase.”
