Trojans’ Patterson wins golf tourney

West Brunswick freshman Landon Patterson was the only golfer to break 80 as he won the season-opening high school golf tourney March 11 at Whiteville Country Club.
Patterson shot a 79 on the par-72, 6,329-yard course.
Other scorers for West: sophomore Drew Boyer, 83; senior Holt Durham, 85; sophomore Dylan Howard, 85; sophomore Cole Snyder, 86; and junior Zack Flaccavento, 88.
West, the defending conference champion, finished second at 332 strokes, two strokes behind South Brunswick. For the Cougars, senior Chris Gotwalt shot an 81, junior John Wagoner, junior Nicky Beecroft and junior Michael Hitt each shot 83s.
North finished at 442, sixth in the seven-team tourney, and none of its golfers broke 100.
