The West Brunswick varsity football squad pulled within one point of Cleveland with just less than seven minutes remaining in Friday night’s first-round NCHSAA playoff matchup, but a two-point conversion attempt was denied by the Rams as the visitors held on for a 40-33 victory.
The Trojans finished the season with a 5-6 record and their 5-1 conference mark earned head coach Jimmy Fletcher’s club its first share of the conference championship since 1997.
