West Brunswick High School finished second in a Mideastern 3A/4A Conference boys’ golf match March 12 at Rivers Edge.
Laney finished with a team score of 334, five strokes fewer than West, playing on its home course. South Brunswick was third (371) in the seven-team event.
Laney’s Sam Young was the medalist, shooting a 6-over-par 78 on the 6,100-yard course.
West’s Landon Patterson was second (79) and Drew Boyer tied for third (80).
West’s other top-four scorers were Zack Flaccavento (88) and Cole Snyder (92).
For South, Nicky Beecroft (84) John Wagoner (87) were its top two scorers.
In a two-team match March 10 at Land O Lakes, West Brunswick beat West Bladen 319-365. For West, Patterson shot a 76, the only score in the 70s. Five players shot in the 80s: Dylan Howard, 80; Jackson Pickard, 81; Tucker Vaughan, 82; Snyder, 85; and Boyer, 85. The top four scores counted for the team score.
