Two Brunswick County women were recently arrested for their alleged roles in an employee embezzlement scheme.
According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Del Routh, the two women are charged with embezzling more than $100,000 from their employer, Tidewater Dental Office in Calabash.
“It was discovered that over a period of several years, two of the employees, Jada Willoughby Atkinson and April Ferris Winch, had embezzled $115,000,” Routh said.
After a six-month investigation, detectives arrested the women Monday, July 16.
Atkinson, 42, of 1741 Salisbury Road, Boiling Spring Lakes, was charged with felony conspiracy and embezzling more than $100,000. Atkinson was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where she was booked and released on a $20,000 secured bond.
Winch, 48, of 35 Redwood Road, Boiling Spring Lakes, was charged with felony conspiracy and embezzling more than $100,000. Winch was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where she was booked and released on a $20,000 secured bond.
