Deputies have arrested two Brunswick County residents accused of robbing and assaulting a man early Saturday morning in Ash.

Lawrence Wayne Jester, 25, of Starboard Knolls in Shallotte, and Misty Fawn Kelly, 28, of Longwood Road in Ocean Isle Beach, were arrested Thursday at Kelly’s home, according to a Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office news release. Each has been charged with common law robbery, first-degree kidnapping, felony conspiracy, and assault inflicting serious injury.

The victim met his alleged assailants at Jay’s Bar and Restaurant in Little River, S.C., where they were seen leaving together at 2:46 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. He told deputies he remembers going to his residence on Bay Tree Drive in Little River, then leaving in the couple’s vehicle about 3 a.m.

Sometime between 3 and 6 a.m., he was pulled from the vehicle in the Project Road area, beaten and robbed of all his belongings, including his wallet and the clothes he had been wearing. He walked to a nearby residence and called 911 about 6:15 a.m.

Jester and Kelly are incarcerated at the Brunswick County Detention Facility each under $100,000 bail.
