To the editor:
Even with the current economic meltdown, there seems to be no end to those lawmakers who want to dip into our pockets.
Of major concern is Senator Obama’s universal healthcare proposal for all. Who’s going to pay for this?
Guess who?
This tragic proposition seems to be a major goal of the Democrats. In fact, as a congresswoman, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi advocated federal funding for every child in the country, and there are many others who have chimed in with their versions of free healthcare.
This sounds great to the uninsured and those who have out-of-reach mortgage payments, extended credit card balances and unlimited spending habits. These people will never purchase medical insurance simply because they can’t afford it.
What ever happened to prioritizing, budgeting and common sense?
Wait, there’s more! Think of those hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who are salivating at the mere mention of universal healthcare. In fact, socialized medicine has proven to be a big failure in the Soviet Union, Cuba and England; wherever it has been offered.
Canada’s stand-in-line system allows you to see a physician weeks, sometimes months, after you call for an appointment. When the doctor informs you that you require an MRI, figure on another three to five months.
Perhaps there’s a middle ground that would assist indigents, the elderly, the infirm and those who are unemployed due to the failure of their enterprise or their employer’s business, but to provide sweeping healthcare benefits for everyone is
certainly not the answer.
If you truly desire to maintain the greatest medical system in the world, free from federal interference, think hard and fast about all these liberal schemers who want to provide unlimited federal subsidies for their socialized healthcare theories.
Is a welfare state on the way?
