UPDATEOne dead after apparent drive-by shooting

A 28-year-old Calabash man was found just before 10 p.m. Thursday—dead from an apparent drive-by shooting.

When sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene on Pineclair Drive in Calabash, James Allen Murdock, of Acres Lane, was unresponsive in a vehicle. Murdock was sitting in a vehicle near a Pineclair Drive residence when a suspect or suspects driving a dark colored SUV shot at Murdock, Lt. Sam Davis said.

Davis would not say how many shots were fired or where Murdock was shot, citing the the on-going nature of the investigation.
