UPDATEWeekend weather watch

-A A +A
By Staff Brunswick Beacon

Brunswick County Emergency Services Department has released the following weather statement: The position of Tropical Depression #3 was adjusted to the east at the 11am

advisory. This correction to the position has shifted the projected track of the

storm further to the east which lessens the threats to Brunswick County. Discussion

with staff at the National Weather Service has identified the following potential

threats for our area: gusty winds when showers come through, rain (estimates are

that we have already received 2 inches, so additional rain increase the threat of

flooding to low lying areas), and rip currents. We still can expect tides to be

slightly above normal due to the astronomical tides with the storm combined.

We are not recomending any protective actions at this time, based on the current

forecast the storm should be past Brunswick County around dusk this evening.

We do want to remind everyone that you should never drive through flooded areas due

to the threat of cars being swept away or the roadway being compromised under the

water.

If you should need to report dangerous conditions please contact the 911 center.

Emergency Services Staff will continue to monitor this event and update you with any

changes or recomendations.
