Reported acts of crime in public schools decreased by nearly 50 percent in Brunswick County, but are up more than one percent statewide.
According to an annual report released last month by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), Brunswick County Schools reported 65 total acts committed during the 2007-2008 school year, which is 5.629 acts per 1,000 students. This is a decrease of nearly 50 percent, as 126 acts were reported during 2006-2007, 11.494 acts per 1,000 students.
