Timothy Bellamy of Waccamaw School was awarded one of the three basketball camp scholarships by Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation and N.C. Touchstone Energy.

Katie Evans of Nakina Middle School and Louis Godwin of Williams Township Elementary School also received scholarships.

The Touchstone Energy Sports Camp program provides students a unique educational and athletic opportunity on a college campus. Camp scholarship winners will learn  fundamental basketball skills, be encouraged to set goals and establish new friendships.

The Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarship program is part of the electric cooperatives’ ongoing commitment to North Carolina communities. Winners were selected by their academics, extracurricular activities and a creative essay submitted with their application.

Timothy Bellamy, son of Dana Cortes, will attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at UNC Chapel Hill. Williams has led the Tar Heels to two national titles and three Final Fours.

“BEMC is proud to give these well-deserving students the opportunity to gain new skills that will enable them to succeed on and off the court from acclaimed NCAA Division I coaches,” said Robert W. Leavitt. Jr., CEO of Brunswick Electric.
