West golfers second in first tourney

The West Brunswick High School boys’ golf team finished second in the season-opening conference tournament March 12 at Whiteville Country Club.
West Bladen finished first at 324. West was second at 329, South third at 339 and North fourth at 392 in the seven-team tourney.
West Bladen’s Blake Baysden finished first and shot a 1-over 73 on the 6,329-yard course.
The Trojans’ Greg Hensley and North Brunswick’s Mason Roberts each shot a 77. South Brunswick’s Bradley Phillips shot a 79. West’s Cole Grammen was fifth at 81.
Other West scores: Holt Durham, 85; Drew Boyer, 86; River Corbett, 89; Chris Clendenin, 89.
Schedule change: The tourney April 16 will be 2 p.m. at Carolina Sands. The tourney April 23 will be 2 p.m. at Rivers Edge.
