The phone rang, jarring me from my typical summer mid-afternoon reverie, also known as a reviving nap. Without caller ID, I responded generically to the cheery, “Hi, how are you?” Thankfully, the woman at the other end of the phone mentioned her name. 

“This is Lottie Howard. Are you busy on Sunday? I’m calling to ask you to come to the celebration of our 60th wedding anniversary...a year and two days late. Everyone will be there. Just come any time from noon to 5 p.m.”
