Who is our enemy? Resist the devil

-A A +A

To the editor:
Who is our real enemy? Is it other people? Ephesians 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
We are warned 1 Peter 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Many Christians pray in the Lords prayer, “Deliver us from evil.”
Many scholars believe the correct translation from the Greek means evil one. You may ask, “So what?”
If we pray using evil, that is a broad term, but when we use evil one, that narrows down to who we want to be delivered from.
The devil is out to destroy us all, and he is a liar and a murderer from the beginning. John 8:44. He also is out to discredit God’s word and those who believe in it. Luke 8:12.
How do we prevent the devil from destroying us? You have heard the phrase, “Don’t try this at home.” Don’t fight the devil without God. Ephesians 6:10-18. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” James 4:7.
Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
