William Watts Jr.

Mr. William Clyde Watts Jr., known to his CB radio friends as “Wildfire,” 70, of Winnabow, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Brunswick Cove Nursing Home. 

Mr. Watts was born Sept.11, 1940, in New Hanover County to William Clyde Watts Sr. and Annie McKeithan Watts. 

He had worked for the State Port as a tugboat crewman. Mr. Watts loved to repair and to talk on CB radios from Ocean Isle Beach to the Virgin Islands. 

Mr. Watts is survived by a daughter, Monica Lovett and husband Joel of Shallotte; a brother, William “Bill” Roberts and wife Carolyn; three sisters, Gracie Roberts and Neda Carter, all of Ocean Isle Beach, and Virginia Long and husband Robert of Ash; and three grandchildren, Brittany, Tyler and Caleb. 

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Jacobs officiating.
