Brunswick County sheriff’s deputies have charged a Wilmington couple with 120 sex crimes involving a child.

Amos Lavon Hardy, 36, of Carolina Beach Road, faces 70 counts of first-degree sex offense with a child, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

The charges are in addition to the four counts of sex offense in a parental role, three counts of statutory rape/sexual offense and second-degree rape Hardy was charged with Feb. 10, when he was first arrested and jailed.

Wilmington police arrested his live-in girlfriend, 36-year-old Angela Renee Wallace, Wednesday, March 5, for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office on 40 counts of felony child abuse — sexual act.

The incidents involved a girl between the ages of 8 and 16 at various places, including Southport, between 2006 and 2014, according to the release.

The girl is in a safe place now, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax said.

Hardy’s $200,000 bail on the previous eight charges was increased to $600,500, Flax said. He remains in custody at the Brunswick County Detention Facility.

Wallace is incarcerated at the jail under $750,000 bail.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information about any other incidents involving Hardy to call the sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigation Unit at 253-2777 or Detective Scott Bright at 616-6240.
