A Leland man is dead and a suspect from Wilmington has been arrested for his murder.
Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office investigators have arrested Randy Lee Anderson, 24, of Thomas C. Jervay Loop in Wilmington, for the murder of Michael James Link, 23, of Sherwood Dr., in Leland.
At approximately 1:15 a.m. Monday, June 24, officers responded to a 911 call about shots fired in the Deerwood Meadows mobile home park off Mt. Misery Road in Leland.
The caller said he heard three or four gunshots, stated the victim appeared to be hit at least three times and reported he heard a disturbance shortly before the gunshots.
The caller also reported seeing a black sedan with four or five occupants flee the scene.
Officers with Brunswick County Sheriff Office and Leland Police Departments responded to the call, along with Brunswick County EMS.
When officers arrived, Link was found dead at the scene, lying outside a mobile home.
Anderson, who fled the scene, was later apprehended by the Leland Police Department when officers recognized the vehicle from a witness’ description. He, along with two others, met with Link to sell illegal drugs.
In addition to the murder charge, Anderson has also been charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, and conspiracy to sell/deliver marijuana.
Anderson is being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Center with no bond.
Courtney Renee Bryant, 19, of Kuhlken Trail in Leland, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana and conspiracy to sell/deliver marijuana and is currently being detained in the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.
David Rashad Duncan, 22, of Kilarny Road in Wilmington, has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana and conspiracy to sell/deliver marijuana and is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.
Anderson made his first appearance in Brunswick County District Court late Monday afternoon.
