A Wilmington man will serve more than two years in a prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge in Brunswick County Superior Court on Oct. 28.

James Christopher Quindale Bunting pleaded guilty to felony possession with intent to distribute, sell or deliver marijuana and was sentenced as a habitual felon. He was ordered to serve 26 to 44 months in the North Carolina Department of Correction.

He was targeted as a habitual offender by the District Attorney’s Office and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. Their investigation led to his arrest after he sold two grams of marijuana to an agent of the sheriff’s office near the basketball courts at Northwest District Park in Leland. Bunting has many previous felony convictions, including possession with intent to distribute, sell or deliver cocaine.

District Attorney Chris Thomas prosecuted the case.
