Woman arrested for stealing truck

A Lenoir woman has been arrested for stealing a pickup truck, which was recovered by sheriff’s deputies.

According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. April Stanley, Tanya Renee Powers, 33, of 2640 Deerbrooke Road, Apt. 2, Lenoir, was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.

According to Stanley, the owner of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck reported the truck stolen Saturday, May 1, from Corbin Lane in Supply. Less than 24 hours later the truck was recovered in the Grissettown area, and Powers was arrested. She was taken into custody without incident. The vehicle has been returned to the owner.

Powers was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where she was on a $9,000 secured bond at press time.
