More than 100 residents of the Woodlands at Crow Creek attended the grand opening of their new Wellness Center. Its purpose is for residents to remain and become active without having to leave their neighborhood.

“With the number of residents in attendance today and the excitement in our conversations with them, it is obvious that our community has become a family atmosphere,” said Brian Smith, contractor/developer.

“The first two of our amenity centers offer our residents plenty of spaces to host all of the social clubs and activities they desire, with the ability to have some physical activity. This new facility is intended to allow our residents to be able to combine these social activities with exercise and well-being activities, and to keep their wellness front of mind.”

Already offering more than 6 miles of gathering trails (sidewalks) for walking and two other amenity centers in the community, the residents “seemed to really have a desire to remain active.”

The new Wellness Center is a 5,000 square foot facility that offers an indoor pool, an outdoor zero-entry pool, jetted hot tub, state of the art cardio and weight training equipment, children’s play area and a volleyball area.

Charleston Fitness provided the equipment for the new facility and was there for the grand opening to introduce all of the new equipment to the residents. They will set up a quarterly meeting with any interested residents to assist them in setting exercise programs/goals and track their progress. They will also offer many additional services to residents of the Woodlands, such as blood work/checks.

“How refreshing it is to see a community really focus on the well being of its residents,” said Steve Lawson, a Charleston Fitness representative/trainer. “In most amenity centers, the fitness area is typically the leftover space in the building that was forgotten about. With this new Wellness Center, it is obvious the community has focused the entire space on making sure the residents have the ability to care for themselves with state of the art equipment rivaling any local gym.”

Residents have already begun planning yoga, exercise and water aerobics classes with many more to come.
