Workers at Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point near Southport are still at work, a spokesman for the military munitions terminal said Tuesday, Oct. 8.

While the Oct. 1 federal shutdown brought picketing by civilian workers at MOTSU for the first few days last week, it has subsided, a union spokesman said.

“All employees at Sunny Point are here and at work as of right now,” MOTSU spokesman Steve Kerr said, adding he has no further information.

“I’m not sure how long they will continue to work,” he said.
