The Brunswick Community College Foundation has announced its cast for the 2010

“Dancing with the Brunswick Stars” fundraiser to benefit foundation scholarships.

Event chairman Clarice Holden and WECT anchor Genevieve Barker announced the new line-up Monday afternoon in the lobby of the Odell Williamson Auditorium at Brunswick Community College.

During her welcome, Holden announced the event will have a new location this year, the Dinah E. Gore Aquatic and Fitness Center on the BCC campus. After that, however, “Dancing with the Brunswick Stars” will take a break for a few years.

Another change in this year’s format will be the introduction of two additional honors. In previous years, the sole winner was the person who raised the most money for the BCC Foundation. This year’s event will include awards for “Best Choreography,” “Most Entertaining” as well as “Best Fundraiser.”

“Everybody here is already a star,” Holden said. “We look forward to seeing you shine.

“It’s for a great cause,” Leslie Bell said when asked why he decided to participate. “The community college is an asset, and this is my way of showing my appreciation.”
“I love to dance,” added Bruce Brown. “I’m involved with the college. My family for generations has been involved in educating young people. This is a way to combine two things I love, and to dance with a beautiful girl.”

Holden said she was “blown away” by the response to this year’s invitations.

“I’m so excited. We’ve gotten people from different parts of the county this year. … And I think it will be interesting with our three categories.”
