  • Hospice plans fashion show, festival and more Feb. 19-23

    Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation and Fiore Fine Flowers will present Celebration of Flowers, a four-day fashion show, brunch, festival and oyster roast featuring celebrity event designer Matthew Robbins on Feb. 19-23.
    A “garden party ready” fashion show featuring torri/bell, Gentlemen’s Corner, Reeds Jewelers, Bangz Hair Salon and Spa, Robbins and Fiore Fine Flowers will take place beginning at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at The Terraces at Sir Tyler.
    Guests will be greeted with champagne and valet parking. Reservations are $75 per person.

  • Paintings on display at Sunset River

    Sunset River Marketplace, an art gallery in Calabash, will present “Ruth Cox: Works in Oil” through Feb. 16.
    The exhibition will feature more than 30 paintings by the Myrtle Beach, S.C., artist. There will be a reception to meet the artist from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. The public is invited.
    According to gallery owner Ginny Lassiter, paintings will include landscapes, coastal scenes, florals and other still lives.

    Coastal Shag Club to shag into New Year
    Coastal Shag Club is hosting a Cheers to a New Year dance from 7-10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Moose Lodge, 253 Holden Beach Road in Shallotte. Jim Bruno will be the deejay.
    Cost is $5 for any Shag Club member, $8 for non-members/guests. The Moose Lodge will sell soda and adult beverages. Everyone is welcome. Bring an appetizer or dessert to share.
