Brunswick Family Assistance Agency will begin taking applications on Oct. 1, by appointment only, for its Christmas Basket/Tree of Hope program. The agency will continue to take applications through Nov. 12.
Applicants should call 754-4766 to schedule an appointment to apply for this program. Applications will also be taken at Victory Free Will Baptist Church and Family Resource Center in Leland.
The USDA recently announced that U.S. shrimp producers in the Gulf and South Atlantic states were certified as eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for farmers and fishermen program benefits.
Brunswick Arts Council will host its 10th annual art exhibition and sale Sept. 20-Oct. 1 at Sunset River Marketplace Gallery in Calabash.
Entry fee is $25/$30 to display two works.
Artists 18 and older who are residents of Brunswick County or who are members of the supporting art organizations Associated Artists of Southport, Oak Island Art Guild, Waterway Art Association or Brunswick Arts Council are eligible to participate.
Sunset River Marketplace’s Creative Exchange series continues in 2010 with Kathy Cody, owner of Calabash Garden Tea Room. Her presentation last year, “The Art of Tablescaping,” was so well received she is back by popular demand, organizers said.
This year’s presentation will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8. Cost of the event is $5 and includes lunch. RSVPs are required due to limited seating.
