  • Sabatell graduates from basic

     Pvt. Courtney D. Sabatell of Calabash, 787th MP BN 1st Platoon U.S. Army, has graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. She is the granddaughter of Nick Sabatell of Calabash.

  • Smiths celebrate 67th anniversary

     The Rev. Lee Roy and Faye Smith of Supply celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary March 25. They were married in High Point in 1950

  • Miss Brunswick County pageant crowns five queens

     

    Five girls were crowned March 25 at the Miss Brunswick County pageant. From left are Sarah Shaw, Teen Miss Brunswick County; Brooke Kesky, Greater Miss Brunswick County and winner of the People’s Choice Award, Most Photogenic and the Bennie J. Ward Act of Kindness Award; Skylar Gateman, Miss Brunswick County; Morgan Strahley, Junior Miss Brunswick County and winner of the Congeniality Award; and Natalie Space, Little Miss Brunswick County.

  • Antimisiaris, Nawara announce engagement

     Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Dr. Marika Antimisiaris of Prospect, Ky., and John Nawara Burgess of Louisville, Ky.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. Michael and Dr. Demetra Antimisiaris of Prospect, Ky. She is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

    The prospective groom is the son of Eileen Nawara of Carolina Shores and the late Anthony Nawara. He is a graduate of West Brunswick High School, the University of Notre Dame and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.

  • Boles-Berry wedding

     Mary Elizabeth Boles of Shallotte and Herman Waddell Berry of Shallotte were married April 2. Rev. Dr. Vaughn R. Cherry of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church officiated the ceremony.

    The bride was given in marriage and escorted by John Edmond King. A reception followed the ceremony at the South Brunswick Islands Center in Calabash

  • Berry Jarvis earns rank of Eagle Scout
  • Clark graduates from basic

     Air Force Airman Harvey D. Clark Jr. graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland inTexas.

    Clark completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Fiore celebrates 80th birthday

     Ann Fiore of Calabash, formerly of New Jersey, will celebrate her 80thbirthday March 4, 2017.

  • Billeaud-Richardson engagement

     Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Ripley Billeaud and Joel Richardson, both of Greensboro. The bride-elect is the daughter of Rhonda and Greg Billeaud of Whiteville. The prospective groom is the son of Missy and Steve Richardson of Clarkton. A March 11, 2017, wedding is planned in Jacksonville, Fla.

  • Rios graduates from basic

    U.S. Air Force Airman Jorge L. Rios, son of Maria C. Benjamin of Leland, has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas.
