  • Undrena Gause re-enlists in Air National Guard

    Air Force Maj. Corey A. Gause of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., had the honor of re-enlisting his wife, Staff Sgt. Undrena Gause of Ocala, Fla., into the West Virginia Air National Guard. After 10 years of Air Force active duty and three years in the Air Force Reserve, Staff Sgt. Gause took 10 years from service to raise their two children, Corey A. Gause Jr. and Kaitlyn K. Gause.

    In civilian life, Capt. Gause is a Pentagon senior career civil servant and Staff Sgt. Gause is a lead MRI technician at Fairfax Radiology in Reston, Va. They live in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

  • Harvell graduates from basic training

     Air Force Airman Alex S. Harvell, son of Regina and Raymond Harvell of Winnabow, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

     

    Harvell completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • First baby born in Brunswick County in 2015

     Zoey LiAnn Romero, daughter of Jessica Romero of Oak Island, is the first baby born in the New Year at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. Weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measuring 18 inches long, she was born at 3:06 a.m. Jan. 3 to her mother. She joins siblings Tatiana, 4, and Isabella, 2. Dr. Li Xu delivered the baby.

  • Hylton graduates from basic

     Air Force Airman 1st Class Jonathon K. Hylton, son of Cyndi E. Goulet of Ocean Isle Beach and brother of Christopher S. Hylton of Methune, Mass., graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    Hylton completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  • Sheffield- Baccarny wedding

     Wendy Louise Sheffield of Ocean Isle Beach and Kyle Jackson Baccarny of Ash will wed Friday, Dec. 12, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The bride-elect is the daughter of John and Wendy Sheffield of Ocean Isle Beach and granddaughter of lsadora and the late William Carter and the late J.W. and Louise Prim Sheffield. The prospective groom is the son of Michael and Ann Baccarny of Ash and grandson of Paul and Lois Baccarny and the late Asa Ray and Mary Elizabeth Brady.

  • Goralski Frink wedding

    Hannah Jean Goralski of Oak Island and Brandon Chad Frink of Supply will wed Saturday, Dec. 20, at Chapel of the Cross in Southport. A reception will follow at Duffer’s of Caswell Beach. The bride-elect is the daughter Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kincaid of Oak Island and Charles Goralski of Johnson City, Tenn. The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Frink of Supply.

  • O'Dell graduates from basic

     Air Force Airman Zachary R. O’Dell, son of Stacy G. and Robert M. O’Dell of Supply and brother of Jeremy M. O’Dell of Hurlburt Field, Fla., graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

    O’Dell completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  • Arahill graduates from basic

     Army Pvt. Justin M. Arahill has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

  • Cruz graduates basic

     Army Pvt. Diaz Cruz, daughter of Jessica Cruz and stepdaughter of Joel Gonzalez of Calabash, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

  • Grahams celebrate 64th anniversary

     Deacon Jesse and Deaconess Pauline Graham of Shallotte celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Nov. 15. They were married in 1950 in Conway, S.C. They have five children, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The couple raised their family in Ferrell, Pa., for 44 years before moving back to this area. Jesse Graham is the chairman deacon at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Shallotte.
