  • Sellers reunion Oct. 18

     The descendants of Elisha Sellers (1867-1935) will have their annual family reunion beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the fellowship hall of Supply Baptist Church on U.S. 17 in Supply. All family members are invited and encouraged to attend. Each family is asked to bring a basket of food to share, and any family updates since the last reunion.

  • Burnett wins state pageant

     Grayson Dodd Burnett, daughter of Ed and Carolyn Burnett of Southport, was crowned Grand Supreme Miss North Carolina Tarheel at the state pageant in Winston-Salem. Featuring contestants of all ages, Burnett won the pageant’s top honor after competing against 22 other contestants in beauty, poise, personality and modeling. She was also named top model after her five modeling presentations.

  • Shirah completes basic training

     Air Force Airman John F. Shirah, son of Denise and Marty Shirah of Ocean Isle Beach, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

    Shirah completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate’s degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Smith reunion

     The Dunbar and Elisa Smith reunion Oct. 11 will be at Waccamaw Park instead of the Shallotte Senior Building.

  • Sullivan celebrates 90th birthday
  • Class reunion Oct. 4

     The Shallotte Pirates Class of 1962 will have its 52nd reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Jerome’s Restaurant in Shallotte. For more information, call 880-3973.

  • Brennan-Mascolo wed

     Dorothy Brennan of Shallotte and Anthony Mascolo of Oxford, N.Y., were married Sept. 19 in a private ceremony at the Wedding Chapel in the Glades in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The Rev. Bill Anderson officiated at the wedding.

    The bride is the daughter of Dorothy Hoffmann and the late Albert A. Hoffmann of Ocean Isle Beach. The groom is the son of Emma Mascolo of Norwich, N.Y., and the late Amando Mascolo.

  • Hewett graduates from basic

     Air Force Airman Alexandria L. Hewett, daughter of Christine L. Hewett of Shallotte and Gary F. Hewett of Supply, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

  • Blackman and Batson to wed

     Jennifer Blackman and Zach Batson, both from Shallotte, will be married in October 2014.

  • Carlisle-Carlyle reunion

     There will be a Carlisle-Carlyle reunion at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Sandy Plain Baptist Church in Tabor City. Bring a covered dish/dessert to share. There will be door prizes, so be sure to sign in at the door. For more information, contact Britty Carlisle Butler at 474-1417.
