She is a pharmacist in High Point. The prospective groom is the son of Rudy and Naara Lopez of Greensboro. He will graduate in May from Elon School of Law. A March 17 wedding is planned at Seaside Methodist Church.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Sarah Stocking of Hillsboro, Ore. and Bryce MacKinnon of Butte, Mont. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mike and Patti Stocking of Cornelius, Ore. The prospective groom is the son of Craig and Winona MacKinnon of Carolina Shores. A March 17 wedding is planned in Bend, Ore.

    Mandy and Courtney Nealeans of Clemmons are the proud parents of a son, Carson Vann Nealeans, born at 11:04 p.m. Feb. 14, Thanksgiving Day, at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem.
    Maternal grandparents are Robert and Wendy Bonas of Phoenix, Md.
    Paternal grandparents are Alan and Karen Nealeans of Lewisville, and Patty and Terry Garrison of Holden Beach. Great-grandfather is Vann Nealeans of High Point. Great-great-grandmother is Pearl Brockwell of Chapel Hill.
     

  • Willetts-Reddick

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Kelly Marie Willetts of Greenville and Stephen Lee Reddick of Stantonsburg. The bride-elect is the daughter of Terry D. Willetts and Julie B. A reception will take place for friends and family on March 10 at Old Shallotte Baptist Church.

  • Buffkin to deploy to Afghanistan

    Army Sgt. 1st Class Ronald E. Buffkin, son of Mary A. Buffkin of Leland, has been mobilized and activated at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and the Southwest Theater of Operations. He is a member of the 824th Transportation Company in Morehead City.

  • Tartt-St. George

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Lauren Nicole Tartt of Shallotte and Jimmy St. George of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Michael and Elaina Tartt of Supply.   • Harrell retires

    Lizzie J. Harrell, PhD,  (ABMM), associate director of clinical microbiology and research professor of molecular genetics and microbiology, and pathology, recently retired after 33 years of service at Duke University Medical Center.

  • Golden and silver anniversaries

    Bobby and Yvonne Gore of Ocean Isle Beach and Steve and Melba Johnson of Shallotte celebrated their golden and silver anniversary, respectively, in a joint renewal of vows ceremony at Jennies Branch Baptist Church on Jan. 7. The Rev. Robbie Stephens conducted the service. A reception took place following the ceremony in the fellowship hall.
    The Gores were married on Dec. 24, 1962, in Conway, S.C. They have two sons, Keith and Jon, and three grandchildren: Jason, Ryan and Russ Gore.
