  • Sellers anniversary

    Donald Manley Sellers and Marilyn Knox Sellers of Leland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 3 with an earlier spring trip to Asheville. The couple has two daughters, Melissa (Lynn) Barnwell and Samantha (Steve) Smella of Leland; and five grandchildren, Wyatt, Ryan, Beth, Ally Barnwell and Ethan Smella.

    Taira D. McTurner and Nathan E. DeMarte, both of Shallotte, were married Dec. 30, 2011, at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington.
    The Very Reverend Fr. Robert J. Kus officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Tom and Christine Broderick of Clarkton and the late Scott McTurner. The groom is the son of Tony and Constance Demarte of Sunset Beach.
    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

  • Altman

    Terral and Christina Altman of Carolina Shores are the parents of daughter, Lainey Elizabeth Altman, born at 12:08 p.m. May 6 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center weighing 7 pounds, 15 ounces. She joins a brother, William.
    Grandparents are Bill and Carol Altman of Holden Beach and Dan and Lisa Trunzo of Damascus, Md.
    Great-grandparents are Albert and Rita Gallo of Carolina Shores and Lena Mae Altman of Raeford.

  • Meo celebrates 95th birthday

    Joe Meo celebrated his 95th birthday on May 5 at a birthday dinner given by his many nieces and nephews at The Brentwood Restaurant in Little River, S.C. In attendance with the guest of honor and his wife, Ann, were nieces Sera Accardi and Rosemarie Beyer, nephews Bob Beyer, Vincent Accardi and Vincent Accardi Jr., and friends Dennis and Joanne Schettino.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Ashley Williams of Sunset Beach and Justin White of Ocean Isle Beach. The bride-elect is the daughter of Eric and Regina Williams of Sunset Beach. The prospective groom is the son of Ernie and Debbie White of Ocean Isle Beach. A Sept. 29 wedding is planned in Supply.

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Danielle Denise Boyd and Matthew Scott Graves, both of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Dee and Johnny Boyd of Supply. She is box office manager at Odell Williamson Auditorium. The prospective groom is the son of Van and Judy Graves of Fritch, Texas. He is assistant superintendent at Farmstead Golf Links. A May 27 wedding is planned at Sharon United Methodist Church.

    Meghan Renee Cate and Thomas Keith McSwain were united in marriage on Oct. 22, 2011, at the Reformed Church of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
    The Rev. Jeff Neevel officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Timothy Nelson and Janet Shearer Cate of Sunset Beach and the granddaughter of Julia Donaldson Cate, the late Philip Dykes Cate and the late Robert Melvin and Geraldine Tyson Shearer of Atlanta, Ga.

    Misty Dawn Hinson of Chadbourn and Mason Lee Evans of Ash were married Oct. 15, 2011, at Wacca Wache Marina in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
    The Rev. Benji Simmons officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Delane and Donna Hinson of Chadbourn. She was given in marriage by her father.
    The groom is the son of Greggory and Teresa Evans of Ash.
    She wore a white organza all-over draped pickup gown with beaded lace empire, lace up the back and a four-foot train.

    Jodi Lister and Travis St. Pierre of Supply were married April 14 at the bride and groom’s residence in Supply.
    The Rev. Jerry Andrews officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Butch and Marcia Lister of Supply. The groom is the son of Kevin and Lora St. Pierre of Supply.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father.
    She wore a Michael Angelo halter top-style dress with scattered pearls and a long lace-trimmed train. She wore a pearl necklace and white sandals and her hair was pulled to the side and curled.
