  • Moore-Willard

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Elisabeth Moore and Ethan Willard, both of Supply. The bride-elect is the daughter of Beverly Moore of Shallotte. The groom is the son of Philip and Heather Kinlaw of Supply and Chauncey and Missy Willard of Lake Wylie, S.C. A Dec. 10 wedding is planned at Highest Praise Worship Center.

  • Parker-Garner

    Katie Mae Parker and Brandon Guy Garner, both of Supply, were married Oct. 15 at Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte. The Rev. Richard Vaughn officiated the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Al and Ramona Parker of Supply. The groom is the son of Terry and Marilyn Garner of Laurinburg.
    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.
    She wore an ivory silk taffeta strapless dress with pleating details and a pleated corsage of flowers in the back, a floor length ivory veil and carried an ivory bouquet of mixed flowers.

    Jesse and Kristina Clemmons of Ocean Isle Beach are the parents of son, Bentley Jameson Clemmons, born at 5:52 p.m. Oct. 10 at Loris Community Hospital, weighing 9 pounds and measuring 22-1/2 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Wayne and Nanet Taylor of Ocean Isle Beach.
    Paternal grandparents are Dale and Rose Clemmons of Supply.
    Great-grandparents are Harvey McDonald of Rockingham and Nancy Evans of Stoneville.
     

  • Chaffin-Solano

    Announcement is made of the forthcoming marriage of Erin Lyon Chaffin of Durham and Jonathan Francis Solano of Biloxi, Miss. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chaffin of Mocksville. She is employed as an ICU nurse at Duke Hospital. The prospective groom is the son of Teresa Fike of Shallotte. He is a special operations trainee with the United States Air Force. A Dec. 23 wedding is planned in Salisbury.
     

  • Redman Mercer reunion

    The descendants of Redman Mercer plan a family reunion from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Town Creek Park in Winnabow. There will be a pig pickin’ so bring companion dishes along with old stories. Call Marian Mercer at 253-5759 or 622-0004.

    Mr. Robert Soucek Sr. announces the engagement of his daughter, Annalorel Soucek, to Jared Chad Hughes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hughes.  A May 2013 wedding is planned.

  • Megan Dilworth enlists in Navy

    Megan L. Dilworth, daughter of Princess Bennett Dilworth of Supply and Francis Dilworth of Supply, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District in Raleigh.
    The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.

  • Gatti completes basic training

    Air Force Airman Matthew J. Gatti, son of Michael Gatti of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and Lourdes Gatti of Calabash, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
    Gatti completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
     

  • Molnar completes nuclear training

    Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Brandon M. Molnar, son of Cristie L. Ledford of Winnabow and Peter Molnar of Irvine, Calif., recently completed the Navy Nuclear Power Training Unit course with Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y.
    Molnar received instruction about nuclear theory, chemistry, physics, reactor operations, safety and security. Upon completion of the course, he was designated a nuclear power operator.
    Molnar, a 2009 graduate of North Brunswick High School in Leland, joined the Navy in September 2009.
